I saw your CD offer and wondered if you could add my name to the list of people wanting copies of the CD’s you’ll be making. I’m a beginner piper in Montreal, and I was supposed to go to the weekend, but was asked to be on-call by my company.
I would surely compensate you for the blank CD’s, postage, etc.
Thanks!
Jamie

That’s no problem, but as I’ve told most other folks it’s going to take me a while. Give me some time and I’ll put up a post about it.
And in other news:
I don’t know about the rest of you, but I don’t believe in making money off of other people’s music, so I will either just send out the CDs with no cash requested, or, depending on how much it costs me for postage and the CDs themselves, I’ll ask that those interested send that much alone. I’m a bit of an anarchist and I don’t mind losing money for the sake of the art.
I suppose this could start a discussion re: recordings of other people’s music. So here’s the question: what do you all think of doing this?
I too am a really beginning piper. I pick up my practice set in Toronto tomorrow after about a year of waiting. Please keep us informed as to the status of your project - I’m certainly interested in getting a chance to hear what I missed laset week-end
When you want to get started, send me an email (virgil.colby@sympatico.ca) and I will give you a couple of free lessons. Deborah Quigley has been very generous in giving me lessons (almost free), so I feel that I should put it back into the system.
Perhaps its not such a good idea to distribute copies of the “CD.” I’m sure many of the recorded musicians are professionals who in some way make money from their performances. While it may be exciting to have and distribute this material you ought to consider obtaining permission from those who are recorded before using the recording for anything other than your own personal use.
