Hello, I’m looking for the chords to the Four and Forty hornpipe.
Thank you, in advance!
Phiz
Where can this hornpipe be found? I looked at JCs and the Session but no look.
Steve
Yes, Sorry that’s part of the problem. I wrote the wrong title. It should be CALE SMITH’S PASTIME. AKA and see “Fair and Forty Hornpipe,” “Seven Up.” American reel, A Major. ![]()
Let’s try that again, please. ![]()

OK, I found it in Cole’s. Here’s what I’d say.
||: A | D A | Bm A | E7 | A | D A | Bm A | E7 A :||
||: A | D A | A | DE A | A* | D A | A | DE A :||
The batteries on my little keyboard went dead so I’m not totally sure of all of it but that’s the way it looks to me. The measure I’m least sure of is A*. IF you don’t like the Bm you can try D or E.
Steve
Thanks so much, I’ll give it a try and let you know how it goes!
