Feadogs have a better reputation for consistency than Generations do.
Regarding Clarke, it depends on what’s available. If only the Original is available, I wouldn’t recommend starting with it. If the Sweetone is available, it might be a good choice.
I know a lot of people love the Clarke Original. But, I’ve found it more difficult to play, and it makes a huge difference to mash the windway. I don’t think a new player should have to do that.
If you can get two (they’re pretty cheap), I’d say get a Feadog and a Sweetone. Overall, I like the Feadog the best, but the Sweetone is a little easier to play. The Feadog is harder to play (not too hard though), and just has more character IMO.
I am inclined to agree with pocolargo. I your choice is limited to clarke, generation or feadog I would suggest the feadog as the quality seems to be consistant and they play with a nice gentle feel. The clarke ‘meg’ isn’t a bad whistle - it is just quite a bit different to others as it is tapered ad has a seam down the back. A feadog and a clarke would certainly provide a contrast to each other if you like to have a choice.

And they are really cheap here, something like 4$! Now i have two Polish thin whistles-it is possible to play on them, but…you know.
Here in Poland there are some people making really good wooden whistles, maybe some day i’ll get one of them.Or even two, or three, why not? Dreaming also about okarina-and i know a person who makes them.
Thanks Kepla! Even though I know to “go slowly” I want to get there quickly! I always have to remind myself you can’t learn overnight and become great. It takes practice and time and you just have to relax, take it slow and enjoy the ride!
