Chieftains concert - RIGHT NOW!!

http://www.cbc.ca/listen/index.html#

Listen to them on CBC radio, RIGHT NOW - at 4pm Saturday Sept 25th

Oh yeah, click on MONTREAL under RADIO ONE…

Poop! I just read you post and clicked on the link in time to hear the very last 4 minutes of the online concert…
Any chance that they’ll rebroadcast this? They said they’ll be doing a TV version tomorrow night at (I think) 7, but I won’t be able to watch that.

Humbling as usual to hear what Paddy Maloney can do with a simple whistle.

Hey, I wonder how much we would have to pay the Chieftains to change their name to the Chifftains?

OK, it’s over now.

It was great, wasn’t it? Lots of other talent from Canada, including the inuit and their throat-singing (very interesting…)

It’s possible, brewerpaul, I’m not sure when though. If I hear of other good concerts on CBC, I’ll be sure to let you all know!!

And yes, it will be on TV tomorrow, but on CBC television (I’m not sure how many of you out there can get CBC TV?)

Caught the last minute or so. Thanks for the heads-up though.
Where and when was that recorded? I checked the website and it says they’re in Europe right now… Paris at the moment I think…

I’m suddenly feeling very manly with my new avatar… Hopefully you’ll all recognize him as Peter Gabriel, and not as myself…

It was in Halifax - not sure when though…

CBC Montreal only or will it be national?.. I guess I can stop being lazy and check it for myself.

Me again,

Something to look forward to.
CBC gets alot of flak, but now and again they make me smile.
Great line-up too!

Yeah, maybe, but I find them kind of quirky, and I like that. It’s a corporation that makes me feel so… so… Canadian…

Thanks for the heads up - I actually caught mnost of the broadcast. Fantastic!

BTW, I initially clicked on CBC2 which treated me to Gluck’s Iphigenie en Tauride. I didn’t think that the Chieftains had gone in for 18th century opera and it took a minute or two to sort it out.

But it was a treat when I finally got it tuned in. Thanks again!

Roger

One of the many things I love about living in Seattle is that CBC is carried on our cable TV. I’ll definitely be tuning in tomorrow. Thanks for the tip!

John

Moxy wrote:“Hopefully you’ll all recognize him as Peter Gabriel, and not as myself…”

Funny, I was just about to ask you if that was him. Great taste in avatar material Moxy.

Thank you, Joseph

(there are a few more where that came from)

Did La Vent du Nord make it onto the radio show? They backed out of a Michigan festival to be a part of that Chieftains concert. (Understandable, but we missed them.)

We’re planning on videotaping the show tonight, so it better be on CBC Windsor!

I don’t have cable or satellite and the CBC Channel 9, here in Windsor did advertise the program.

MarkB

Yep, they were on the radio show. You should see them on the tv version tonight too.

WOOHOO! Chieftans CBC party! Pass the popcorn!

Watching Mr. Maloney play whistle makes me sick to my stomach… in a good way.
