Chieftain Low D & E Pack For Sale

Hello,

I recently purchased a Reviol - Low E, F G black anodized set from the Doc. So I’m selling my previous Low D and Low E set. I have for sale a Chieftain Low D along with the low E body. In very good shape and very few marks. As you can see in the pictures, I’ve inserted a small toothpick into the wind way and put a small piece of tape over the A whole on the Low E body to help playability and tuning. However, both things can easily be removed with no problems. They both play very well! I have played the Low E extensively a few times a week at church for some time now. They both are powerful enough for my liking so that you can get some great tone out of them.
Here is a sound file I’ve made of me playing both whistle bodies:

I’m been a contributing member of Chiff and Fipple for quite a few years (predominantly on the Uilleann board), and have bought and sold things many times through the board before.

I’m asking $200 US with free shipping to anywhere worldwide. Please email or PM me. sampsoncane@gmail.com

all the best,

Is this really stamped … backwards (right to left)??

Perhaps taken with the newest X ray camera from the top.

To answer the question, it is stamped correctly (not backward)… ha ha.
Sorry. Ya its backwards because the picture was taken with a web-cam on my computer at work. For some reason the pictures with the “D” & “E” I was able to flip/rotate around right but the picture of the stamp on the back of the whistles wouldn’t rotate correctly.

all the best,

Darn. I always wanted a Kappa Mu Gamma Chiellviw whistle.

ya know, if you squint a lot and turn the whistle up-side-down, you could have “a Kappa Mu Gamma Chiellviw whistle”!

I have a question - possibly caused by my ignorance, possibly by a ‘tromp l’oeil’… (and in no way am I questioning the merchandise - just curious).

In the pictures I can see that the whistle head has a ‘female’ joint and that the D body will fit inside it. But the E body appears to have a ‘female’ joint as well. How does this fit onto the head? [[Or do you just slot all the sections together and use all four hands to play it? ]]

My first guess was that the E body was smaller OD and needed a thicker section but its not clear in the picture.

Phill,
that is a very insightful question. The answer is that the ‘female’ joint on the whistle head is fixed and doesn’t move. The ‘female’ joint that you see on the Low E body pulls right off, and is more of a protective cover for the “cork” joint. Both D & E bodies fit into the same fixed ‘female’ joint on the whistle head. They both have the same diameter aluminum tubing.

Hope this answers your question.

BTW, I’ve uploaded a rough sound I made. In the file, I play both D & E bodies. It is rough, but you can hear the tone and responsiveness of the whistles.

all the best,

I am lowering my price to $170 for the set with buyer paying shipping (anywhere in the US will be about $10, if its over that I’ll pay the rest). I need the funds.
Thanks

It did indeed, thanks. Good luck with the sale.

ok, let’s try $150 plus shipping. For two possible chieftain low whistles that’s pretty good. I believe Phil hardy still sells the the Eb body as well, so you could conceivably make three whistles with the set.
