Cherish the Ladies at Blackstone Valley Celtic Festival

It happened yesterday. Great little 1 day festival in Sutton MA. 3rd year. Fabulous location in a farm field, high on a hill with 30 mile views of rolling green hills. Music leads - Cherish the Ladies and Glengarry Bhoys. Many good local performers. Lots of young step dancers. Border collie sheep hearding demos.

The sound system was finicky but performers did well. CTL first set was around noon and must have been something as fiddler, was hung up in transit coimng from Florida. I’d not seen them before and had no idea Joan Madden was such a cut-up. And of course a fabulous player. (although she is a proud, vocal yankee fan in the heart of red sox nation. must be tough looking up to the sox) Joan had great story about a very nice new slow tune called New Zealand Hills. She said it will be on new cd, out in a few weeks. It was probably a bit a of a challenge for performers - windy, storm clouds gathering etc. but they carried on. Great job. Glengarry Bhoys were also fine with high energy rock/trad set.

OBLIGATORY POST!
