Chatting

As if we don’t have enough things to waste our time on I thought that it might be neat if the chat thing worked and people were actually there .
Do you guys have an IRC channel? I think I just used profanity when I asked that didn’t I? I know about the horrors of IRC, I did a painting about it.
Maybe we could all get broadband Internet access, buy high quality vid-cams, dale could set up a redundant fiber optic server network, and we could all do video chat!
Or, better yet, I’ll get Bill Gates to fund a development project where each of us gets a Hollywood mansion built on a huge plot of land, say Afghanistan, and we each get $5,000,000,00 US to live on annualy, and we can call it the Chiff and Fipple Commune of _________ Whistlers. The underscore part is for another word like psychotic, deviant, etc.
Each could bring non-whistling family members, they could do all the work like laundry, cooking, etc.
Seriously though, as of yet I’ve had no luck in finding anyone close who even knows what a tinwhistle is. I’m going to check out some university music professors to learn if they know of any instructors or people who gather or would like to in my area.
Any suggestions on where and how to look for others in the Washington, Pennsylvania area?
Maybe in the spring I’ll dress in green tights, and go to my local park early in the morning to play. Maybe that will get someone to come over and offer some information or ask questions. At the very least it will get me arrested!

ROFLMFAO!

Hi,
My best advice would be to go to a session in your area–there you can meet lots of others. I put a search under “Session listings” at http://www.sessioneer.com, just putting in Pennsylvania as the state, and it returned about 10 sessions in Pennsylvania.

Good luck!

The “web chat” (which will go official Any Day Now, just need to find more tuits) is a Web-based IRC client. If you’d prefer to use a standalone IRC client, come to #chiffy on rhizo.mati.ca.

I have recently begun spending more and more time on IRC after finding an IRC client that suited me better then those I had tried that just made it all torture.

Is that channel still current/official?.. just wondering.. i’m gonna set it to auto-login to that server and channel clicks about

I’v been preaching Uilleann/bagpipes but noone even knows what it is… or even what a penny/tin-whistle is. It’s quite anoying .. just kidding.. met some really cool ppl though in the various ireland-channels i’v been too.. most of them have no interest in irish things (lol) and just hang there anyway.. but no matter. their cool anyway.

The current IRC host for #chiffy is: blizzard.pobox.com (6667)
