This evening in the chat room, energy was complaining that his day had been really boring. So some of us decided that we needed to do something reely, I mean, really interesting to offset that ennui. It’s a chat room, after all–certainly SOMEthing interesting could be done in a chat room! So of course we decided to collaborate and write a reel, in real-time! The no-longer-quite-so bored young energy started us out with the first few measures; then the great peeplj added the next few measures; I myself threw in a few, and before long the ever-adventurous and rambling avanutria had finished off our A part. Next we reeled in StevieJ who got a rocking pedal going in Part B, and then energy himself tied the tune together with the final ideas, while all the while Lark fed us midi files as our abc’s grew. We call our little joint project (clears throat and announces) A Real Reel. Avanutria recorded this reely lovely version of it.
It was really fun. Glad to have been a part of it.
It’s pretty, though it isn’t 2% Irish. It sounds like something you would hear waiting on line for a leg of lamb at a Rennaisance Festival. Pretty, though.

Hey! We play traditional Irish, and often busk around the food lines! grrr…
Your recording of Old Time Reeligion had a lovely air about it, hard to describe, but caused, in part, by the slide into that one note on your harmonica. To my tastes it should go faster; your version seemed a bit too polkay, but reely I’m jiggy with it all.

I hear ye. I had originally planned to record it at full speed, but, honestly I kept getting tongue tied on the harmonica, so I had to slow it down a bit.

Oh! I was just kidding about the tempo, sinking to new depths for a pun on a dance form. It was fine just as you did it, Walden! And your Ode to Joy is…joyful!
Sounds like so much fun guys…sorry I missed that. Super job!
Was doing some reeling of my own…(that Norwalk Virus weight loss program is a killer) See you all soon in the chatroom.
Maybe I can be part of the next venture…
Return to The Real Reel or Really Reeling etc etc..
