Chat v. Apple

I can get on chat using my parents’ ghetto dial-up PC, but it appears to hate my fancy Mac laptop. It doesn’t seem to connect using Internet Explorer or Apple’s browser, which is called Safari. On IE, it appears to log me in and lets me type stuff, but what I type does not appear on the screen. On Safari, I can’t even type anything without a window popping up saying, “You are not connected to IRC!”

Any thoughts on how I can make it behave?

I can’t make it work if my web accelerator and pop-up blocker are on, so if you’ve got something like that running, you might need to turn it off.
