Chanters for sale

I am offering two Kirk Lynch D chanters for a friend.

One in ebony, nickel-plated brass and boxwood mounts. Has a wooden head and F, G# and C keys, with original reed. Plays great. List from Kirk is $1300.

The other is a narrow bore (about the same as the Rogge narrow bore, rather than the very narrow Wooff type). It is in rosewood, brass and ebony mounts with C and F keys. It also has a wooden head and has a new good reed.

Interested parties can contact me off list by PM or call me at: (707) 878-9978. If no takers from this list, they will go on eBay.

I’ve got one or two friends you can have…

Well I ended up buying the Narrow Bore D Lynch chanter.
Here is a pic with a Lynch concert chanter for comparison. The narrow bore is made of rosewood with ebony mounts.

I understand 'tis one of only two narrow bores that Kirk made. I kind of like the reverse colour scheme…helps me to tell the two apart.

I was looking for something that would play quieter and after months of trying to get the concert pitch chanter down in volume I decided to take Pat Cannady’s advice and go narrow bore. It can indeed play very soft and sweet yet with that characteristic “flat set” sound.

Much thanks to Ted Anderson for making this available!
