Chamomile Tears

I performed my new song “Chamomille Tears,” at my music group. Sounds pretty good, though I blanked out near the end. I uploaded it to:

The story is two ladies were talking about the tea. One misheard it as “tears,” and said that would make a great song title. I went home and worked on it. It took a lot of writing, and discarding. The result is one of my best songs. Lyrics follow at the end of this message.

The other amazing part of the story is that I sent the link to an old friend that lives in Japan. He relayed this:

From John’s message
Thanks for the music link. “Chamomile Tears” is great. As you probably know, chamomile tea is supposed to be soothing. Coincidentally, in the midst of writing this e-mail I just finished reading a bed time story for my daughter, she selected it, called “Tear Water Tea” – the protagonist is an owl. The owl cries about sad things in life and the tears collect in a tea kettle. He makes salty tea from the tear water. Somewhat similar to your song. My daughter was born in an area of Tokyo that is right next to a river called “tea water” in Japanese. The water sometimes appears like Japanese green tea because of the algae. It is a picturesque setting with a bridge and train crossing high above the river. The metaphors and coincidences continue.

Chamomille Tears

The woman is a seeker, with magic in her veins
The woman is a healer, she’ll take away your pain.

Bring her all your stories, your sorrows and despair
unload all your burdens, release your worldly cares

She inscribes your name on tea leaves, not a witches brew
she makes a pot of tea, to cast a spell on you

She cries Chamomile tears, heal a broken world
it’s a tonic for the restless, a salve for weary souls

She cries Chamomile tears, soothing to the touch
it’s a remedy that heals, when life is just too much

She listens to your story, she weathers all the rain
the tears she sheds are real, to process all the pain

She cries Chamomile tears, heal a broken world
it’s a tonic for the restless, a salve for weary souls

She cries Chamomile tears, soothing to the touch
it’s a remedy that heals, when life is just too much
