Catchin' a buzz...

No, not what you’re thinking! :stuck_out_tongue:

The past week or so, my pipes have been really playing great (uh oh, now I’ve jinxed it and my reed will go all wonky tomorrow)! I have been attributing it to the advent of air conditioning weather in Atlanta. Its been at times warm, but pretty humid so we’ve been running the AC which has kept the humidity inside at about 55-60%

As a result, me pipes they are a singin’…I know what you’re talking about with the buzz under your fingers..almost like surface tension with a slight buzzing. Really cool stuff!

Also, I’ve been working with my drones and have gotten all three going. My teacher had been wanting me to start playing with one drone (tenor) the past month or so, and over the weekend added the bass (hey it was working great)..then tonite I added the middle drone and was able to play in the second octave with all 3 blazing.

A month ago when I started with the first drone, I couldn’t play anything in the second octave…so this was a big step forward for me.

I’ve been playing every night until my fingers can’t grip the chanter any more! Then take a break and play some more.

Sorry, don’t mean to brag, just wanted to share the good news.
