Cat help needed.

To make a long story short, my daughter has about 7 adult cats and she has to get rid of them. We’ve tried every animal rescue and humane society in the county. We’ve put adds in the paper and little signs up in the grocery stores. No luck.

Anyone have an idea on how we can get these cats homes? The pound is out.

Probably will have to go outside your county. Google cat rescue orgs.
I’m sorry to say I have 4 which is double my max cat allowance, and 3 of them must spend their indoor time in a very large cage due to inappropriate potty behavior. No allergies here, fortunately.

Put them in an envelope and mail them to John Allison. He loves them.

Okay, I’m sure you have already talked to these people, but on their “Everything Else” page there is a link to a lot of animal rescue organizations, maybe some you haven’t heard of. I know most are probably way far away from where your daughter is. They also have a tip page on how to find new homes for animals, but it sounds like you are doing those things. I wish I could think of something better.

Will this organization not take the cats because they are out of room? Or do the animals have to be deserted or abused before they will take them?

Thanks all.

Cynth, we seem to be having a little difficulty in cooperation with Kalamazoo Animal Rescue.

I’ll look at the site though.

It seems to be an unfortunate part of pet society, but hardly anybody wants to take in an adult cat.

They don’t know what they’re missing. We have a 15-year-old female who is one of the most affectionate pets I’ve seen, and she’s so much a part of the family that if the city came by and said we had to get rid of her, we would move to a different town instead. At that age, we probably won’t have her too much longer anyway, but we would still move!

In fact, she looks very much like Fly’s avatar!

Cat’s make great stir fry. Oh, wait. This isn’t the tasteless cooking forum.

Sorry.

(Disclaimer: I have three cats a and I love them dearly and I haven’t so much as licked one)

.

Besides, licking cats is nowhere near as rewarding as licking toads…

I lived in Ann Arbor ten years ago. There was a lady there who ran a private cat shelter – she doesn’t euthanize any cats, even those with feline AIDS and the like. We got adopted of our cats from her.

I can’t recall her name, but we found her via a classified ad in the Ann Arbor News. Might be worth a look; if she’s still around she might either be able to take in the cats or give you a good suggestion for getting them adopted elsewhere.

There is feline AIDS? I did not know that.

Yes.

Oops; PetPlace systems error. I’ll check back later. Thanks for the link.

Well, there’s avian flu.

Just google for “feline hiv” or “feline aids”. Lots of info out there.

FIV is a kissin’ cousin to HIV. Because they are so similar a lot of research has been done on the former, much to the benefit of both cats and humans.

BEST. POST. EVER.
