Roundabout Theatre Company is casting for its production of “A Touch of the Poet” by Eugene O’Neill. Doug Hughes, dir.; Jim Carnahan, casting dir. Rehearsals begin Oct. 11. Previews begin Nov. 11. Runs Dec. 8-Feb. 19(maximum run) on Broadway at Studio 54.

Seeking – Patch Riley: 60s-70s, Irish, old and weathered, lost in his
dreams and oblivious to his surroundings. Note: all actors must be able to
play the Uilleann pipes (bagpipes).

Open call auditions will be held July 30, noon to 2 p.m. at the Roundabout Rehearsal Studio, 32 E. 31st St., 4th fl., NYC. Prepare a short song to play on the Uilleann pipes. Actor must supply his own pipes. A short scene from the play will be provided at auditions. Bring pix & résumés. This is an open call. Equity procedures are not in effect. Producer runs all aspects of the audition. If a non-Equity performer is cast, he will have the opportunity to join Equity. $1,105/week minimum. Equity LORT Contract. (First posted 7/21/05)

It is easier to make a piper into an actor than an actor into a piper. mattie has a great personality as well.

That’s why it’s called acting. If the gig is attractive for you, you might give it a try. Bill did the role when he was about 30.

Seems a Taylor made part for Kevin Henry who is Irish, a piper, and has acting experience, and I believe is in his early sixties. Who is the leading lady, Halle Berry :boggle:

I think Kevin Henry has played this role, in a production with Brian Dennehy off Broadway.
