Caption contest-- prizes have been awarded!

Caption Contest
Please submit captions for pictures 1, 2, 3 and 4.
Entries will be judged by means of Eyebrometer. My husband’s reaction to
most attempts at humor is to raise one eyebrow in a Leonard Nimoy sort
of way :really: where mm of eyebrow displacement is proportional to
perceived humor.

Prizes will be awarded!

“Rook, Maw! No hands!”

  1. Check? “Check”, is it?

  2. I’ll give you “check”, you fecking b@st@rd!

  3. Bend over, and I’ll give you a right good castling!

  4. No, I will NOT do that again. :really:

1-4 - Queen says to Knight - Oh no!! Godzilla -Cockatiel has returned. Why doesn;t Mothra-finch save us?

Society (spice?) finches are so beautiful!

I am so excited about the prizes I found that I have to award them right
now!!! So here we go…

to Innocent Bystander-- 3 mm on the Eyebrometer scale
first prize

Own a faithful reproduction of the earliest known chessmen! Originally discovered on the Isle of Lewis around 1170, they are of Scandinavian origin.
The Isle of Lewis (pronounced Lews) is in the northernmost of the Outer Hebrides - a barren, windswept land of swamps, rocks and peatmoss. The Island has a rich legacy of ghosts and Druid spirits.

To djm, with 2.38 mm on the Eyebrometer
second prize

and to dwinterfield, with 2.37 mm (just a hair less )–
third prize

And thank you to Cranberry for commenting on our beautiful little Society-girl!
…here she is as a baby

“Lewis pronounced ‘Lews’”? Who does that? :really:

I don’t have any birds myself, but I have friends with Cockatiels, and people I used to work with kept Zebra Finches in the Office. Lively birds, both types, and a lot of fun.

Nice Chess sets too!

Probably the ones with posh, plummy accents.

Our captions for these photos were sort of like Deej’s-- a long haranguing
dialog ending “That’s the crappiest game of chess I’ve ever seen” “Well that’s
because you pooped on the chess board” :stuck_out_tongue: .

We love our birdies-- these three were hand-raised as chicks and so they
LOVE to be with people and want to be right in the middle of whatever we’re
doing. And (to be slightly on topic on an ITM forum) they like my fluteplaying!
One cockatiel can whistle a very fractured version of “The Laurel Tree”.

No it’s not!

You have just reminded me though that my shiny new laptop has a chess game on it.
