I just spotted a review of one of my Macacauba whistles by AndreaZ24 (which we HAND delivered to Buffalo, if you please…) and was eager to read what she had to say. However, when I clicked on that posting, it started to load, and then suddenly the entire Chiff and Fipple board exited. I had already read several other posts, responded to one, with no trouble at all. I’ve tried it several times. I’m using AOL 9.0 with a dialup connection at my office. I also tried opening it using Internet Explorer directly with the same result. All other postings seem fine, but this one is not. I’ll try again on our broadband connection at home tonight, but in the meantime does anyone have an idea what gives? Thanks.
PS-- if I can actually get to that posting, I’ll reply and post a pic of Andrea, her husband Ron and myself at the Anchor Bar, originator of Buffalo Wings.
I swear I read that post or something very similar dated yesterday the 3rd before leaving the office. But this morning that post is dated today, the 4th, and has a little more detail. Strange… Maybe I am developing ESP or something.
Here is a copy in case you can’t open it.

I had an awesome Christmas this year! Why, you all ask?? I GOT A MACACUBA WOOD BUSMAN!!!
This is just the most amazing whistle..both in looks and craftmanship and in playability! I don’t even know how to begin to describe the Macacuba wood. It is this wonderful rich red color with these warm undertones. Paul used Brass fittings on it which really bring out the richness of the wood. The finish is like GLASS!! I swear! I told Paul that when I am not playing it I am looking at it. I may ask to be buried with it. It looks suitable to turn up as a priceless artifact in some important burial mound. I will have to work on attaining importance before I go! I am not worthy!
It sounds wonderful! Very rich, clear tone. That wonderful “woody” richness to it. I specifically asked Paul to make sure that 2nd octave B was nice and easy and sweet. And he hit it right on the money. The
transition all the way up to that elusive note is effortless and the B itself rings sweet and true. No desire to flinch or run screaming!
I am in love.
I also had the pleasure of meeting Paul and Charlene. They were passing right by the Niagara Falls, Buffalo area on their way to Michigan for the holidays. Ron and I met them at the Anchor Bar in Buffalo the day before Christmas Eve to meet, have a quick bite, and of course get my whistle so I would have it for the holiday as it was a gift from Ron. What a great time we had! Paul is an awesome guy! Charlene is awesome! Their pal Cliff was awesome! It was AWESOME! We found we shared alot of common interests so the conversation just flowed in all the right directions! Hated to see the evening end!
My ancient computer is on its last legs so I can’t post a photo. I am going to get my daughter in law to put one up for me as soon as I can so you all can see the beauty of this whistle. Paul told me he had only one piece of this wood left. A fella sent him the wood cuz he wanted a whistle to match the spoons that he had. Paul had enough wood left over to make my whistle.
EVERYONE NEEDS A BUSMAN!!!
Hi, Paul.
I had no trouble opening Andrea’s post, either.
It worked fine the first time I read it, and it worked fine again just now when I checked to see if it’s still working after reading your post in this thread. And sure enough, it’s about the same whistle as the review that sbruyette posted in this thread.
I think you should just chalk your computer problem up to good luck, Paul.
This way, people are reading the review three times. If you get a rush of people ordering three whistles, you’ll know why.
Best wishes,
Jerry
Every so often there’s been a thread or a page that does this to me. The one Paul referred to didn’t. But I think it’s happened twice; I’m running OSX, and both times it happened both in Safari and IE. I figured it was a Mac thing, but evidently not.
Just checked it on my home couputer and it worked just fine. Thanks to all for the advice…
