At any rate, she is somehow the daughter of a crab, which I’ve always found amusing.

I doubt SpongeBob would call these dolphins his “buddies”, since it’s the sponges that get poked or stung to save the dolphins’ noses. 
I love dolphins. Even though they’re obviously some of the most intelligent animals in the world, I’d think it’d be a little bit harder for them to use tools because they don’t have hands proper like bonobos or other animals do.
I thought pearls were oyster irritants…

They don’t have to. Tunas don’t fly.
So do most humans, but their intelligence is not necessarily obvious.
The ones who don’t talk are the ones who are usually most intelligent. Look at Moonlight, for example.
