I have a waltons guiness little black whistle and it seems slightly out of tune.
And I was wondering if you could use the same trick as the generations to unglue the head. If not what other tactics do you know that might be able to work. I would have tried already but that aluminum is very thin and I wanted to get some input on the matter.
Thanks as always for you help.
I’ve never seen a Guinness or a Little Black whistle with the mouthpiece glued on, but maybe some are.
Do take it off and fill the cavity with Sticky-Tac since it does strengthen the tone.
I’m afraid it will still be somewhat out of tune even then though because the holes are not drilled quite right.
My Guiness whistle came ‘glued’ with a very, very soft glue that gave some friction to the head but didn’t require much more than a gentle twist and tug to remove it… they may vary though the amount and hardness of the glue (especially in that, the longer they’re on the shelf, the harder the glue will get…)
Just be sure to twist rotationally and pull in line with the shaft… no bending motions!
Oh, and don’t transport a guiness whistle unprotected in a suitcase or backpack… the thin walls ding very easily…
(Oh well, I like my Oak better anyway.
