Hello Folks,
I usually only post in the flute section. I’ve seen some really incredible people doing charitable things on here in the past so I thought I try and post.
I am currenty working for a Glasgow austism charity and am trying to get some more musical activities for our service users. Today I brought in a charity shop guitar.
Anyway we are thinking of trying to use some whistles in a music therapy type situation.
My original plan was to purchase some megs but I think high whistles will be too shril for some of the service users and perhaps less tactile.
So I was thinking of some low g whistles. I also thought we could try and build them oursleves but I think the skills needed would be too high for most of the group.
I am also not terribly handy myself so I thought I’d ask people on chiff for some help.
If there are any homebuilders, experimenters. etc. who would like to try and make a pvc low g for our center the help would be amazing. To give you an idea we have ten service users. plastic would be best for hygienic reasons. There is one guy who particularly loves Scottish and Irish tunes and has responded really well to my playing flute, etc.
Anway anyone interested in helping contact me by pm.
Thanks in advance,
Patrick
Have you considered harmonicas? I taught my nephew to play. At one point he was diagnosed with Autism, but we all doubted that diagnosis. There is a boatload of harmonica tab music free on-line and for most beginner songs, you really only need to know 4 holes blowing in and out, that’s 8 notes.
He was visiting us for a while and he never told his family that he learned so when we were visiting them and we played some duets, he family was a bit bowled over.
