C~ tuning

Hi all, :slight_smile:
Can anyone offer advice on the following?
On my Peter Hunter wide bore chanter the C# is in tune with the drones and also the F#.
To play C~ I lift the C# finger and also the F# finger (no other combination works). The problem is that the C~ is sharp by about 15 cents. :frowning: As I canā€™t flatten the C# hole and also the F# without affecting the tuning of those two notes (they are in tune as they are) how can I flatten the C~ without having to resort to curling the C finger over the hole to compensate. :astonished:

Hi Joylon,

Welcome. ā€œShadingā€ the C# hole to flatten the C natural is actually the desired technique. It allows you to bend that note and pull out lotā€™s of tonal colour from the chanter. You can also try lifting more than just the F# finger on the bottom hand. Common combinations are F# & E and also F# & Gā€¦ this brings mmore life to the C naturalā€¦ more nyaaa :slight_smile:
