Yes, it did happen!!

Thanks and respect to John S for organising and hosting the event.

Becky, Francis and myself called in for an hour or so before heading on to the session at the Jolly for some intense irish tunes.

A few other CandFers appeared there later and we played on into the small hours.

Good news for the Manchester and North West Uilleann pipers is that we are planning to get regular (monthly) meeting going in the new year.

We will have teaching, plenty of chat, beer, music etc (all the usual stuff). And a website!!!

This will all start with an “event” sometime in Jan or early Feb. I will make information available when we get more organised.

My life has calmed down a bit (Thomas is now 4 and a half) but Jim is still fairly busy with his job. Dave’s death has woken us up and off our behinds to get the local piping scene a bit more organised.

Since getting involved in this forum it is also inspiring to see what others are doing around the world to promote and encourage Uilleann Pipers.

Yes it did happen and thanks to everyone who came and respect to Gary who flew up from Swindon and played his flute in public for the first time.

In retrospect I think Friday might have been a better day, allowing folks to have 3 sessions in a row, the Jolly on Thursday and Saturday and the Bear house on Friday.
Come to think of it I could organise a Sunday lunchtime and/or evening session as well, making a mini session festival in the centre of Manchester.

I’ll have a go again in the new year but I’ll wait till I know the date of Dave’s UP do, in fact perhaps we could combine the two and really spice things up?

Just re-reading my earlier post and thought I had better clarify that Jim is Jim Horan, and we work together organising the North West Piper’s events.

Given mention of the “cat incident” on another thread I wouldn’t wish to start further rumours.

Excellent. Sounds as though you all had a good time.
I haven’t managed to avail myself to any of the NW UP meets.
I hope to get to one in the future!
