I’ve had about a dozen email from people asking about whether, as a community, C&F will do a fundraiser for the tsunami disaster. As best I can tell from reading the news, enormous amounts of money have been pledged by governments, corporations, and individuals during this initial phase. I suspect that a couple of things will happen: The giving will diminish over time (as one would expect given the early response and, at least in the short and intermediate run) charitable giving to agencies doing work unrelated to the disaster will suffer. Accordingly, I want to propose that we hold off and look at fundraising for this, or perhaps for some other charity, after some time passes.
Thanks very much. I’ve been moved by your emails.
