Buyers beware of Mike Mangan!

This is my first time back and contributing to the C and F in a long time (years in fact, I can remember the time when there were only a few hundred people signed up to the C and F newsletter and Dale Wisely was happy with that amount, how things cghange!). I have gone on line occasionally and read the new posts on the forums and smiled contentedly to myself knowing that, ‘As much as everthing changes, nothing changes’.
The one thing that has changed is peoples general awareness of dodgy dealers lurking on the ‘net.
I was one of those naive newcomers to on line buying and I fell into the trap. I was trawling around on C and F and came across a guy named ‘Mike Mangan’ who was selling a brass low whistle made by himself. After emailing back and forth we agreed to deal. I sent off the cash order and not surprisingly (now that I look back and think "Doh’ you idiot") I never got my nice shiny low whistle! Attempts to contact him obviously drew blanks and I put the experience in the “you sucker” file.
As a post script to all this, I was cleaning out a drawer a little while back and came across the copy of the money order for the low whistle.
The Address was one of the towers at the World Trade centre…Mmm.
I wonder how many others were (are?) ripped off by ‘Mike Mangan’? Is he still around ripping people off or was he at the WTC that fateful morning picking up his next ripped off payment?
So, buyer beware, more so all you newcomers to whistle/low whistle, make sure you know who you are dealing with and use tracable payment methods.

Another thing I forgot to add, I am not worried about what the fallout of naming this ‘Mike Mangan’ is. If he really exists/existed and anyone out there knows him, ask him to drop me a ppm. I am not holding my breath while waiting on any contact!
Buyers beware…

Sorry you didn’t get what you ordered. Just wondering… what was the date of your money order?

I shall try digging the order out of what ever cupboard drawer I have moved it to. You know what it’s like when you clean up old receipts and things, they get reassigned to somewhere else and then it is just as hard to remember where that somewhere else was!!
I shall have a rummage around next week some time when I am rostered off work.
