Busman Tulipwood D for trade

Hello all! I have a very beautiful Busman tulipwood whistle in D that just doesn’t get played enough and I would like to trade it for a whistle of equal value, I may consider muliple whistles too. I paid around $200 for it new so you be the judge. I’ll consider anything but I’m looking for that perfect session whistle. If I could have perfection I’d say it would be an Oak whistle that is two or three times louder. Anyhow, make me an offer. You can post to this thread or email me at rhexis@gmail.com.

I’m not sure you’ll get better than a Busman in terms of others hearing you (or hearing yourself). The thing is, Paul’s whistles are balanced. The problem with an Oak isn’t that it’s not loud enough, it’s that it’s not loud enough in the lower register. That is, when you lay into it in the lower register, it flips. I once saw a group with a whistle player playing an Oak, and she was totally inaudible in the lower register, and you couldn’t hear anything but the whistle when she was in the upper register.

My experience with Paul’s whistles is that they’re among the best balanced (Burkes are also great this way). They don’t scream in the upper octave, but they hold their own in the lower.

I’m not trying to steer you away from trading your whistle; I’m sore tempted by it myself, just warning that the grass isn’t always greener.

I’ll trade you for an Oak and a megaphone. I’ll even arrange to have it emblazoned with the college of your choice. The megaphone, that is.

thanks all, it looks like I have a tentative deal in progress. thanks for the offers.
