Hi Guys,I have Tony Hinnigan with me and below is his review of my Busman high D.
Take it away Tony:
I have, literally, just played Phil’s Busman whistle for the first time and
it was a very pleasurable experience.
My normal whistle of choice is an Abell, which has stood me in good stead
through many a recording session, be it film, tv, records, jingles, whatever, it always does the business.
This Busman is virtually interchangeable with the Abell in matters of tuning
and easy playability. It requires no great backpressure and is therefore
very handy for sensitive stuff. Whether it would drown out ten banjo
players, half-a-dozen accordions and “Animal” on bodhran in a noisy pub
is doubtfull, but there other pieces of kit which have that capability.
This a fine recording instrument with a brighter sound than my Abell
(you don’t always want “dark”, let’s face it) and is very light in weight
(which may be a reason for the bright sound) I must get one!
Phil has a vid clip of me playing it on his site ,so if you’d like to check it,it’s in the MISC section of www.kerrywhistles.com
