busman and greenwood

recently i had in my possession both whistles in d. marvelous instruments - each of them. both feature super voices, although different. the greenwood is more mellow with a strong bell note. the busman has more chiff and is stronger for “attaching” notes (it has a great touch to it.)

i ended up keeping the greenwood, but really debated about it. each whistle is a joy to play - each is hard to put down. the greenwood takes more air and more air control, but the payoff is its mellowness. as it is out of purpleheart, i find it to be most striking.

great instuments and my hat is off to each craftsman who created them.

one other sidenote…this is the second of each of these that i have owned and i noticed slight improvement in each - or at least my memory is telling me so. or maybe its just that each whistle is so good i’m denying my stupidity for letting either go in the past.

regardless, if you are looking for a quality whistle, you will not be disappointed in either of these. well worth their price…

I don’t understand “attaching.” Did you mean “attacking?”

Which is why I kept both. :smiley:

I really like my Busman and Greenwood whistles, and would have a hard time picking a favorite to play. I don’t claim that they’re better than other whistles out there (since I’ve not tried that many different makes, and I’m biased toward wooden whistles), but both are excellent instruments.

Ever played a Rose, Randy? I find myself picking that up nearly every time now, even over my Overton, O’Riordan and Bleazey. :astonished: Maybe part of it is its newness to me, but I like its balance of air demand, back pressure and sound qualities. It is also very sleek looking with gold on blackwood. I am really looking forward to the Pink Ivory with silver that he is currently turning for me. It is resting right now. :smiley:
