Bunker Hill: History of the Tune?

Can anybody fill me in on this one? Are the composer and the provenance of the tune known, or have these been lost?

Nano, Check out Fiddler’s Companion. It gives a little information on the tune. I take it that it’s the tune in Dmix that you’re interested in. Just search for Bunker Hill.

Thanks a bunch, Steve! Yeah, 'twas the Dmix tune that I was asking after. And thanks for reminding me of TFC; I haven’t made much use of that laudable resource, but that will be changing. The additional anecdotes relating to “Yankee Doodle” certainly made for an interesting read.

And now I know that there’s a Bunker Hill (Cnoc Bunceir) near Waterford. :slight_smile:
