bucks of oranmore by matt molloy on youtube

does anyone know what happened? it seems to have disappeared. did anyone save a copy of it on the computer? i was thinking about it but never got around to it. now the clip is gone and i cant listen to it anymore!

I get the message, “This video has been removed due to a copyright claim by RTE.”

This one still works.

Mighty fine flutin.

I would imagine it won’t be there for long…I think monkey587, in the next post, makes the best suggestion of all.

Or you can get the “Come west along the road” DVDs and experience lots of great musicians you may never have heard of, in addition to Matt Molloy.

(edited to fix typo)

This appears to be happening a lot on YouTube lately. I used to listen to/watch the two or three clips from the 2004 Planxty concert all the time, but these were also recently removed. I never thought to save copies for myself.

Although this is no doubt meant to combat piracy, it just encouraged me to download the entire concert through Bittorrent.

I dunno. Copyright is copyright but IMHO, the quality and duration of youtube’s content is currently not good enough to bother with enforcement. If anything, content removal will actually hamper commercial interests.

Buy the fecking DVD!

Yeah, I eventually did buy the (fecking) DVD from Celtic Music USA. The download was only a temporary measure. You get my point, however, that anti-piracy measures often just lead to more (and worse) piracy.

Piracy can be good or bad for a musician, depending on what their source of income is.

A musician friend of mine told me that he LIKES piracy because that’s how people find out about his band. They often give away their albums, but it’s cheaper for them to let people download pirated versions.

Once people learn about the band, they frequently press for local concerts. And that’s how the band has secured invitations to play all across Europe. Obviously, they don’t make much from CD sales; it’s the concerts that bring in an income.

In Lunasa’s case, maybe piracy hurts more than it helps.

What DVD is it on?

…never mind - just saw response above!
