Hi y’all,
Just wanted to report some good news on the conversion of my Kirk Lynch tenor and baritone regulators from cane to bronze reeds.
As an experiment, I had Seth Gallagher build me a set of bronze regulator reeds for my concert set regs, received them today, and they seem to work very well so far. Required a few hours to redo the rushes and find all the right settings, but overall, I think they are quite good.
They sound at a much lower pressure than Kirk’s original cane reg reeds, which is something I’ve become more accustomed to playing flat sets. So far, they seem very robust and not too loud. Pretty much the drone pressure alone is enough to make them sound.
Anyway, please pass on the info to anyone who might benefit.
Cheers,
Michael
