Bronchial Resonance

It’s been at least three days (I think) since I last posted, so I think it’s ok to ask another silly question.

Ok, I’m getting (occasionally) some solid notes from my flute, and actually played a simple tune. For now mostly I am just trying to play long, steady, quiet notes - D, E, F#… you get the idea.

Well, here’s my question. I’ve noticed when I play a solid bottom octave E and especially an F# I get a mild thrumming (for lack of a better word) feeling in my lungs. It’s not making a sound, but I can definitely feel a vibration thing going on in the air in my lungs. I assume it’s a sympathetic resonance in my bronchi or something.

Which brings to fore three questions:

  1. Am I nuts and imagining this?
  2. Is this sympathetic resonance in the lungs something everyone feels at one note or another?
  3. and, perhaps a silly question, does it indicate an incorrect embouchure or something that will adversely effect the playing?

Thanks for your patience and tolerance,

yes indeed we all get a little trobbing now and againn, especially when playing a long F#, there is an old remedy for that, when you feel it coming-on
pull a brown paper bag over your head and everything will be ok.

Try an F# didgeridoo, you’ll feel it then.

My favourite didge is an F#.

Umm…

But that’s how I get the chicks. I have to do it when I play the flute too?

It might be because you are not covering the holes correctly this used to happen to me some times when I used Pipers Grip but not any more.
