breathy Thornton D or bad playing?

I am slowly getting used to my Thornton D. However, I am still unsure if I am simply demonstrating bad playing or whether this is a more “breathy” whistle than I am used to.

The lower register sounds great, but the upper (to me) sounds weak and windy, as if I can hear my breath exiting the windway as a gust of wind.

This is quite likely the novice in me and not the inadequacies of the whistle.

  1. Is a “breathy” sound normal for the player while for a listener in front of the whistle, the “breathiness” is not noticeable?

  2. Is there a way of posting a soundclip (say of me playing a scale) in a posting?

I did email Tommy about the whistle, but I expect that either my or his spam filters were over-zealous.

NOTE: I have been mainly learning on a Burke DAN, which may simply be a contrast to the sound of my perfectly made Thornton D.

Any ideas,
Charlie
