Brandon and Feonahagh

I visited County Kerry in the northern autumn of 93.
I went to a session in a pub in a village just below Brandon Mountain.
I cannot recall the name.

I reckon Brandon is the highest mountain in Ireland. Am I right?
And I reckon the pub was at Feonahagh. Could this be so?

What you need to weigh up is which of these three villages has the greater likelihood of having sessions: Feonahagh, Murreagh or Kilmalkedar. The last named place sounds pretty warlike if you ask me.

Seriously, any help would be appreciated.

I’ll try this one…

If you’re on the Dingle side of Brandon, there’s a pub called An Cuinne in Feoghanagh but I’m not sure that there was ever a lot of trad there. It’s close to Begley country down there though so you never know. Close enough by there is Tigh Bhric (Brics pub: www.tigbhric.com ) which would be more likely for a session or there was often a bit of music in the pubs in Ballyferriter. Also TP’s and Begleys in Ballydavid would have had music. After that, Krugers, Paudie O Sheas? Any bells ringing there? Were you on the coast or inland a bit do you remember?

At 952m, Brandon is the 9th highest in Ireland with Carrauntoohil in the MacGillycuddy Reeks at 1039m being the highest.

Any help?

To someone who knows nothing of what you are talking about, this sounds rather sinsiter. :laughing: What’s the deal with “Begley country”?

Seamus Begley is a well known box player from that area.
