Boxwood Busman :-)

I just thought I’d share a couple of pictures
with you but first a short introduction,
A few years ago I was given a small piece of French Boxwood
by my Luthier supplies friend to make rosettes for my
classical guitars. I never used much of it and it sat with the
rest of my tone wood on the shelves.
Over time it obviously dried out a bit because it had a fair bend on it.
Then back in April this year I thought that’s big enough to make
a D whistle  and got in touch with Paul to see if he would be willing
to make one for me.
He said he’d not used Boxwood before but was keen to give it a try.
Anyway a couple of weeks ago I got an email saying my whistle was ready
Not only does it look good it sounds wonderful, quite pure but soft in tone
and very sweet in the upper octave
and here it is
Thank you Paul.

That’s awesome pretty!

That’s beautiful work. Bravo, Paul!

Beautiful! I especially like the contrast between the wood and the metal trimmings. Excellent work, Paul!

I am also a luthier and had a piece of kingwood that had been laying around the shop for years. Paul also turned it into a beautiful whistle that is also a top notch player. It is one of his original quieter whistles and it has a very pleasent second octave that is easy to play. I also have one of his newer designs with the more open sound made out of rose myrtle that is a real show stopper. I mean it is stunningly beautiful and will bring a session to a complete halt when taken out to play. I would upload a picture of the two if I knew how

That is gorgeous!
