Bouzouki teachers in New York

Trad Strings
1

Hello string people,

I’m just starting to learn to play the bouzouki. I have no prior string theory experience. I am a piper. And have been for some time now.

Over the past couple of years I’ve become very interested in chord structure and other elementals of melodic composition. I’d like to learn to play an accompanying instrument and I’ve always enjoyed the bouzouki and the ringiness and droniness of it.

I live in Rockaway Beach, Queens, New York. I’d like to find a buozouki teacher, or even a decent guitar teacher that dabbles in bouzouki. As I hinted, I’m not particularly interested in playing melody on the beast, just “back-up”.

Thanks for your help,

Nate

Hey Nate,
Give the Irish Arts Centre on W. 51st St. in Manhattan a shout. They may be able to help you.

The only chap I know of that fits the bill lives in Yonkers and that’s a long way from Rockaway Beach.

Good luck with the search.
