A bosun’s whistle (boatswain’s pipe) emits two tones, low and high. Does anyone know what pitches these tones are? (I could download a WAV file and analyze it with Transcribe, but it seemed more fun to ask here.)
No idea about the notes, but how do you play the freakin’ thing? I have one and I cannot get it to anything but hiss.

I use one as a fob for my car keys. It sounds like it’s a d to an eb (minor third) about three octaves higher than the bell note on a sop d whistle. Mine is an Acme chrome plated made in England.

PS
Where I’ve taught, the kids thought it was a crack pipe.
