Sorry for newbie question, but I just held a highland chanter reed staple right by my uilleann chanter staple, and they were the exact same size.
I have a couple old chanter reeds, and I was wondering if I could salvage their staples and solder them together, or try some thing else, would this work?

I can believe it might be possible, but Geoff has it right…far more trouble than any time or money you’d save.
as highland staples are flared which bit would you solder to which bit?could be tricky and ultimately probably useless but you might achieve some interesting tuning problems that might take a lifetime to solve.give it a go for a laugh but have a bottle of whisky and some prozac on hand as well,allan.
