i’m looking for a bohdran that plays okay, lasts when properly cared and within the range around $200…any recommendations of a particular maker?

Yep… but our sound samples at the moment are pretty lame. We’ll be going into the studio to do these drums justice. By the way, we’re not carrying the Eckermanns anymore, while they are lovely, they’re not quite as lovely as the O’Connells. We’ve actually sent both the Eckermann and O’Connells to customers at the same time and the Eckermanns always get returned! Still, Beth Leachman of Siucra (www.siucra.net) sounds great on her Eckermann.
Also, we’re colaborating with Claddagh to produce a quality Tunable 18" for $200. Should be in the next month.
