Blind Owl Brand

Rather than go further off-topic on the Flute board…

Alan Wilson, of Canned Heat, has always been one of my favorite musicians in any style. I think he was among the best blues guitarists of his day, a great vocalist, and a unique and soulful harp player. He contributed greatly to the musicological documentation of the American country blues idiom, discovered and recorded older bluesmen, etc… My kind of guy!

Anyway, I just stumbled upon this set of six interviews from early in the band’s career, (1968). I think the interviewer may have been Dick Waterman, but I’m not sure. Fascinating stuff, including some great solo country blues guitar. Man, I wish there was more of that stuff around!

More of this is what I’m after.
