I’ve given this matter a lot of thought, and ultimately, this whistle is just not getting play time. I like the tone, but it just doesn’t quite have the volume to cut the mustard in session. When I’m playing at home, usually it’s after my son is in bed for the ngiht, so it’s just a bit too loud for that venue. I find myself playing quiet whistles at home, and really loud whistles at session, and this one’s really neither.
I still really like the way this whistle plays, and the few occasions that I can play the whistle during the day, I have, but in the last month or so, it’s just barely been touched. And I really could use the money for other whistles to review. So, that’s that.
Disclosure: Has developed a couple of cracks under the ferrule at the base of the whistle, but these have not moved up into the whistle body. I can’t see them, but I can feel them with my fingernail. I’ll bet http://www.fyfer-restorations.com/ or some other flute repair place could fix it up no problem. The playability of the whistle is unaffected, and I’d be happy to record some clips for prospective buyers, if interested.
These are $250.00 new. I’d normally sell it for around that price as David has a waiting list, but because of the cracks, I wouldn’t feel right about it. So I’m letting it go for $150 + s&h and insurance.
