Ron Olesko, long time host of "“The Sunday Session” on WFDU (FM Radio 89.1
in the NYC area) will host and broadcast an interview with Bill Ochs (and a
few of his students) on Sunday, 2/29/04 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:a.m. (Eastern
Time). Bill will reminisce about his 30 + years of whistle instruction and
whistle-related activities as well as the growth of the Irish Arts Center,
with which Bill has a long standing affiliation. (The Irish Arts Center
will also be celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.) The program
will also include interviews of and a few tunes played by a some of Bill’s students.
Some of Ron’s well chosen tunes (think: Micho Russell!) will round out the
hour.
While the broadcast range of the station is not extensive, the show will
also be available as a simultaneous Webcast at the same time. The URL is:

I also listened in this morning. It was great. Bill and his students sounded wonderful. The recordings of Micho Russell were grand. I may have to listen in regularly. Were there any other C&Fers in the group Tom? I hope you guys do it again soon.
I’m reasonably certain that nearly all the participants touch base @ C & F now and again, and know that one of the participants posts semi-regularly, but under a ‘Board Name’. I regret not plugging C & F directly, which did not occur to me until after the show. I found Bill through C & F back in 1999. To be sure, the good fortune of having Bill as my teacher and C & F as a resource have been the key elements in whatever meager progress I have made in the few years I have been at this. This is great fellowship and a fine virtual community.
