Best way to remove lacquer coating on Brass Generation

When I pulled off the mouthpiece, some of the coating came off. I tried removing the rest of the coating with Brasso, but it is very slow work. Is there anything that works faster?

Acetone or nail polish remover (same thing) on a tissue will wipe it right off. Be careful around the decal so you don’t wash it off.

Lacquer thinner. They sell it at Ace Hardware.

Acetone or nail polish remover works just as well as lacquer thinner (xylene), but the fumes are far less toxic.

If you’re feeling aggressive, steel wool also works. It creates a kind of nice finish, which you then must remove with Brasso. A solvent is a much more refined route, but I like the way my whistle turned out after steel wool and polishing. The decal isn’t so much there anymore, though.

I’ve used wire wool in the past, and if you finish rotating the tube whilst slowly moving the wool you get a nice effect.

If you mean the stuff inside, it came off when I did the hot water thing to remove the glue joint for makin’ em tunable.
