Eran, more important than which teach-yourself material you should acquire is to spend least a day with an experienced piper to get you started off right.

After that, get as many books, videos, CDROMS you can. They all have a little something different to offer. However, none of them are complete, thus the need for a real teacher to get you started correctly.

I have had very good experience with the NPU videos. However, nothing compares to live help from an experienced player/tutor. My tutor not only was a great help in person but made a tape of each of our sessions that I am still learning from to this day. Even though I have long since learned all of the tunes we went over, I am still picking up something new from those session tapes almost everytime I listen to them. If in-person help isn’t available, the NPU tapes and Heather Clarke’s CD are a good way to go though.
