Best NSP tutor?

Hi All - I am recently the proud aquirer of a set of Burleigh NSPs, and am wondering if anyone has a suggestion for the best introductory tutor book/s?

I “play” SSPs so I don’t so much need the stuff on how to get consistent tones, and bellows operation, etc.

Looking for something basic, but more focused on getting straight to the music.

And BTW if anyone has anything of the kind they would like to offer up for sale, I’d be interested.

Thanks,

LEE

To my knowledge there are two tutors:

http://www.liestman.com/

John Liestman’s book (designed for the North American student without a teacher)

Or,

http://www.northumbrianpipes.com/Books.html

Richard Butler’s book.

I’d also get the NPS book #1 and/or Pauline Cato’s book (w/CD’s) asap.

Thanks!

Can’t wait to get my pipes, but they are swimming across the wide Atlantic from the Isles

Will probably be quite a wait.

You might consider joining the NSP society - wonderful resource and you can buy books at a reasonable price.
Barry Say has a web based tutor but I don’t know address
Good luck with your Burleigh set - I hope you are near some other NSP pipers.
Ged

Hi Ged - and thanks!

Unfortunately, no; as far as I know there are not any others around, but that may just be my lack of knowledge.

I got my pipes about a week ago, and I must say, they will present a challenge!

The bellows doesn’t seem to want to supply enough air to keep the bag up without maximal flapping. May have a leak, might not be set up quite right, or maybe I’m just not used to the smaller air flow compared to my SSP bellows.

Do the NSPs normally have a smaller volume bellows?

Thanks again,

LEE

The short answer is yes.
I hope you are progressing withyoru Burleigh set and found another NS Piper to help you out
