In discussions about low whistle, I’ve read the “Bell Tone” referred to. Can somebody tell me what this is?

It’s the lowest or first octave tone you can make on the whistle with all the finger holes covered. On a D whistle its a D. On an F whistle its an F. On an XYZ whistle it would be XYZ (in the first octave) It’s the whistle’s lowest note or ‘Bell Note’.
It is often a tone that is harder to reach, taking such a low amount of air to generate. It also requires that all of the finger holes be well sealed by the fingers. The Bell tone is often the tone most effected by excess moisture in the windway.

The “Bell Tone” or “Bell Note” is the lowest note a whistle can sound. For example the bell note on a D whistle is the D note in the whistle’s first octave.
