Beginner Whistles

Well here is what I have gathered to get started. I think I over did it a bit.lol

They all have there own sound and I enjoy playing them all. I find myself practiceing more sense I want to play each song on each whistle and cant decide which one I like the most.

I think I like them all the most and my wife said no more whistles until I can play 100 songs. Just means ill have to practice more.

Looks like a nice lot! It’s fun to have the Eagle Clare (I THINK that’s what the split-apart one is called), so you’re never without!

How do you like the white one?

Indie

The white one is an “Everywhistle”. I have a D/Eb/C (one head - three bodies) and they are very nice.
They’re my most-used whistles.

BTW… that’s a beautiful “starter” collection of whistles!! But you’ll need more keys.. at least some in the key of C and Eb (it’s just an opinion)

Those are some nice lookin whistles :astonished:

Very nice for starters.

I wonder how many here can remember back to the day they had so few whistles.

Wow!! And I’ve been very happy this past week with my first… A Jerry Freeman tweaked Mellow Dog. I guess I’ll have to pry open the wallet soon just to keep up with you guys!!

You forgot to get a Clarke original design! :boggle:

Good set to get going with.

I have an Every whistle as well and think it’s great.

That white Everywhistle is great and plays so easy.

The Clare I take with me almost everwhere so I can practice on the spurr of the moment.

kptom, no need to pry open the wallet I soon realized I can learn to play with anyone of these whistles. Although I can see myself being one of those guys who just likes buying different whistles. I will try and restrain myself.

As Bothrops said I will need more keys which means more whistles. And I diddn’t forget the Clark orginal, its on my next list. But I have a lot to learn yet and a long road. I just wish I would have started this when I was young.

pojp58: How does that Clare whistle sound? And where did you get it?

I sounds very good to me and plays like the Feadogs, I like it. But remember im still a beginner and might not know the difference yet.

Got it from Bigwhistle. A few other places had it but no one had a case to go with it and Bigwhistle’s is a real nice case. Makes it easy to carry around.

The Clare whistle has a nice, light sound. I think I bought mine from UK eBay–even shipping to US I got it home for about 18.00. I also bought some other Clare whistles at the same time. The brass tarnishes more easily than my other brass whistles (maybe someone can tell me why), but naturally that doesn’t affect its sound.

Thanks pojp58, Indie!

I may consider buying one when I get the chance.
