When I uploaded all of the recordings at archive.org (including these two) I asked the Mods to put up sticky threads where I linked to each new tune. They’re still there in the flute and stringed instrument forums but not here for some reason.
You can hear the same two tracks plus Cronin playing some tunes on the flute/fife in the Digitized Materials section of the Irish Traditional Music Archive / Taisce Cheol Dúchais Éireann website. It’s under the Parlaphone recordings, there are batches for 1929 and 1930. These are indeed very beautiful bits of piping, I used to think this was Leo Rowsome, who played with Neilius in a trio; indeed maybe they are, as pseudonyms were quite common in the 78 era.

Thanks for posting this–what beautiful playing! Rarely does one hear such extensive (and successful!) regulator work. His intonation and tuning are just flawless.
Never heard such reich reg playing! I don’t associate older players with anything near this style—usually in these recordings you get a little one-two action…almost stride piano-y. Love it.
Beautiful tune. With the strong regs accompanied by the chanter like that at times it sounds almost like a zampogna and piffero.
