I would like to have a bamboo flute in a (harmonic) minor scale as you can get it from TallgrassWinds - but: are the 2nd and 3rd octaves in tune? I couldn’t find a fingering chart for those minor scales on the net. Some tips or experiences?
I doubt you’re going to find a fingering chart on the net. It’s kind of an unusual flute, but, let’s say the flute is in D Major, so the notes you get as you move up the flute opening one hole at a time are:
D E F# G A B C# and then D again in the second octave and repeat
If it’s in D Minor (harmonic) I would expect that you get
D E F G A Bb C# and then D again in the second octove and repeat
with the same fingerings as you use in the D Major scale. So if you used your favorite C nat fingering on this flute (0xx 000 or whatever), you would (in this case) get C natural. And if you played the same scale with the C natural fingering, you would lbe playing in the Natural D Minor scale.
Unlike the D major flute, you would not be able to play in G minor by starting at G and playing C instead of C#. The harmonic G minor scale is be
G A B C D Eb F# G
and that Eb would be tough on this (hypothetical) flute.
