I want to talk a little about ktdasarat99. I received an e-mail that was identical to the post above. I sent a reply asking for more information and he replied with the exact same shouting blurb again. I wrote back and said that I didn’t want to receive that particular e-mail anymore and he replied with this:

SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE CAUSED TO YOU. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN BUYING THE BAMBOO FLUTES I WILL FURNISH THE REQUIRED INFORMATION SHORTLY. WHAT IS YOUR REQUIREMENT AND HOW MAY FLUTES YOU REQUIRE.

And at the same time:

WHAT ARE THE DETAILS YOU REQUIRE AND HOW MANY FLUTES YOU NEED. PLS

So I wrote back and told him that I could tell from the formal e-mail that the flutes were not made by him and I was not interested. Then I got this from a different e-mail address:

Dear Sir,
This is with reference with your contact with Mr.Dasarathy, regarding buying bamboo flutes. I introduce myself as Raghu, leading professional flute player and the leading flute maker of India. Since I am the professional concert player, the flutes made by me would be perfect all aspects. All the 12 aspects would be absoultly perfect. The tuning of the flute would be 100 % accurate. All the professional flute players use only our flutes. A set of flutes contain 24 flutes of all the scales and a set of flutes containing 12 flutes will have selected scales. The price of the flutes vary from $ 40 to $90. If you want to buy 24 flutes set, the price would be fixed average and it is the same with a set of 12 flutes also. But, there is only a marginal difference in the airlifting charges, because we have to use the same quantity of packing materials. Please inform me atone about your requirements. The flutes would be despatched within 15 days after the receipt of the order.

Jessie - I got that same e-mail…it was sent to my address 3 times in a row last night.

I did a Google search on the name and came up with quite a few hits that dealt with Indian music. Apparently, there is also an online flute course in Indian music by this same person…

It may be quite the legit operation in the subcontinent, but I didn’t see any listings dealing with Irish or Western classical music.

That said, I’m sure glad I didn’t e-mail back…I wonder how long you will continue to hear from them!
