Yo Wisconsonites! Saw that some of you are attending the Irish fest and wanted to pass along a tip: Take in some Bad Haggis (the band, not the food). Just saw these guys (and gal) at Muldoons in Newport Beach, CA, and hoo boy, you betcha they’re good!
Their musical style is hard to categorize; Irish, World Beat, progressive rock and jazz fusion maybe? Anyway, it’s a fun mix.
I’m not a promoter, honest, just think they are a great group that people should see. And if you miss them in Milwaukee they’re doing a tour of the Midwest. Check out the site: www.badhaggis.com
Plan to check them out. I have them on my list of groups I’ll try to catch. I hope I can be there all four days. There are some many groups appearing that its hard to fit them all in.
All of the above with a little salsa thrown in, but also very electronic and very very loud.
I caught their first show here last night. Spoke briefly to Eric and Mick, nice friendly people. They put an awful lot of energy into a great show with an unbelievable mix of sounds.
If you want strict trad - stay far far away. I’ve you like creative sound and can handle decibles - come on down.
The avatar picci is from Memphis where I lived until 4 months ago. Hopefully very soon I’ll change the background to the Racine Windpoint Lighthouse or another local landmark. Maybe I’ll use the Celtic Cross at the Milwaukee Fest Ground. My wife has already nixed the facade of any local gentleman’s clubs :roll:
