B set tuning

NE1 know the tuning of Mick O’Brien’s Froment B set on the latest CD? Is it all the way down to B flat? Seems flat of my K&Q B chanter when I play along to the CD. N. Mulligan’s B chanter is just a little off, too, whereas recorded music on B sets by Padraig MacMathuna, Jimmy O’Brien-Moran, Tommy Reck, and Joe McLaughlin are spot on with regards to tuning and my own lovely chanter…good trip to play along with these pipers!

do an archive search we’ve been there done that.

The precise info I’m looking for is not there. What is the tuning of MO’B’s B chanter? For starters, how far away from “B” is the bottom or bell note …soft or hard note…just how far… as a reference. I know that what is relevant is that the thing is in tune with itself. I’m just interested…that’s all. Anybody wish to be helpful?

Mick is playing his Froment Bb set. Mick has two sets by Alain: one in B, one in Bb.

Hey, if the wood shrinks a bit temporarily is it a B set anymore? Noooo!
I’ve taken to saying I play a “B flatural set” these days, since it is neither. And “18 1/4 inch set” makes it sound I’m boasting about another subject…

Jim, thanks for confirming my suspicion.
Kevin, its B-smaller…but I like your suggestion, too.
